Di Yang Lei sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Yves Passot recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 10th match minute, Club Olimpia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Müfit Mikail to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Club Olimpia's Alfredo Aguilar got control of the ball when Burt Cawthorne tried to sneak it across the goal line. 13 minutes into the match, Club Olimpia's goalkeeper Alfredo Aguilar had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Yves Passot. Edgar Betonowy hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. 15 minutes into the match, Club Olimpia's Denis Inestrosa broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 27th minute Club Olimpia were awarded a corner. Denis Inestrosa went to the cornerflag to take it. Alfredo Aguilar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yves Passot in the 28th minute of play. In the 32nd minute, Di Yang Lei made a precise shot to the right of Ximenez Caneiro. Deportivo Galicia's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Deportivo Galicia's Ximenez Caneiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmund Lidberg in the 34th minute of play. Yves Passot's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alfredo Aguilar read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. In the 40th minute, Deportivo Galicia's Yves Passot dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. Club Olimpia's Alfredo Aguilar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save Club Olimpia from getting a goal against them. 47 minutes into the match, Deportivo Galicia's goal looked a bit too open when Edmund Lidberg came free, but Ximenez Caneiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The wind increased when Yves Passot made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Club Olimpia getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Rickard Soned hit a great ball. Club Olimpia's Alfredo Aguilar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yves Passot in the 60th minute of play. After 63 played minutes Club Olimpia got a freekick which was hit by Faustino Ortle. Deportivo Galicia's Juan Fernando Pratto was substituted for Daniel Kipchirchir Pikin. Alfredo Aguilar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Xacintu Magadan in the 66th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nelson Haedo in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ximenez Caneiro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ximenez Caneiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Roque Gora in the 68th minute. In the 71st minute of the match Deportivo Galicia got a corner. Club Olimpia's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Juan Fernando Pratto ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Juan Fernando Pratto got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Alfredo Aguilar quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Thanks to some nice moves Di Yang Lei could shoot a difficult shot in the 72nd minute, which Ximenez Caneiro however easily saved by the left post. Nelson Haedo had several of the Deportivo Galicia's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 76 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-2 score and a disappointed Ximenez Caneiro as he didn't even see the shot coming. In the 78th minute, Burt Cawthorne hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match had gone on for 81 minutes, Nelson Haedo put it in 2-3 from a short distance just to the right of Ximenez Caneiro. 85 minutes into the match, Club Olimpia's goal looked a bit too open when Xacintu Magadan came free, but Alfredo Aguilar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 88th minute Edmund Lidberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ximenez Caneiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Roque Gora got free with Ximenez Caneiro in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Xacintu Magadan struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Alfredo Aguilar didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Deportivo Galicia. In the 93rd minute, Club Olimpia's Nelson Haedo ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ximenez Caneiro. Ximenez Caneiro yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-4. When the match was over Club Olimpia could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Deportivo Galicia throughout the match.
