Spectators: 10850 (Terracing: 8139, Seating: 2495, VIP seats: 216) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Randolph Glover started the match with the kick off. After 4th play minutes Mo Salah shot 1-0, a short shot which went by Tom Riddle and just under the crossbar into goal. When Codruț Văleanu fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Australian Youth Academy's protests and gave Codruț Văleanu a yellow card for diving instead. Mo Salah took the ball and in the 8 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tom Riddle. Tom Riddle dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. In the 11th minute the ball was on its way in behind Manly FC's goalkeeper Ray Clemence, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Randolph Glover's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ray Clemence read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. In the 15th minute of the match Manly FC got a corner. Australian Youth Academy's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Battle Muller ran over to the corner to take the kick. It was a well-played corner which John Aldridge managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mo Salah in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tom Riddle saved Australian Youth Academy from getting behind. Australian Youth Academy's Tom Riddle proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Australian Youth Academy from getting a goal against them. In the 31st minute, Randolph Glover left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Australian Youth Academy fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Manly FC's John Aldridge got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. John Aldridge's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tom Riddle read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. In the 35th minute, John Aldridge made a precise shot to the right of Tom Riddle. Australian Youth Academy's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. Randolph Glover blasted a shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ray Clemence having to make a save. Ray Clemence showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Randolph Glover in the 38th minute of the match. Tom Riddle made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Mo Salah sent off a good shot on target. Mo Salah had several of the Australian Youth Academy's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 40 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 4-1 score and a disappointed Tom Riddle as he didn't even see the shot coming. Australian Youth Academy's Randolph Glover suffered a concussion in the 43rd minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mo Salah was the one to do the kick off. Garth Brough sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Garth Brough could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Ray Clemence made a huge save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mo Salah in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tom Riddle saved Australian Youth Academy from getting behind. A collision led to Manly FC getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Andrew Robertson hit a great ball. If Garth Brough had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ray Clemence showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Garth Brough, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Manly FC's Ray Clemence proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save Manly FC from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mo Salah in the 68th minute of play forced Australian Youth Academy's goalkeeper Tom Riddle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. John Aldridge received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Tom Riddle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Manly FC's Carmichael Carbery was substituted for John Aldridge. Australian Youth Academy's Abraham Moon managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Andrew Robertson in the 74 minute of the game. With a little luck, Manly FC's Ray Clemence got control of the ball when Garth Brough tried to sneak it across the goal line. Manly FC's Ray Clemence proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save Manly FC from getting a goal against them. In the 78th minute, Garth Brough got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience was convinced that Mo Salah's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tom Riddle was relentless in the 80th minute of the game. In the 82nd minute, Garth Brough ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ray Clemence was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-3. Garth Brough scored 4-4 in the 85th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ray Clemence, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 89 minutes of play, Australian Youth Academy's Garth Brough made it 4-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ray Clemence was left in no man's land by his defense there! Australian Youth Academy's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
