Rick Brearley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aurelio Badilla in the 9th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Perry Swanson in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rick Brearley saved Celtic de Sarda from getting behind. Rick Brearley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Perry Swanson in the 13th minute of play. In the 14th match minute, Celtic de Sarda was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lars-Erik Hellström to maneuver through the defense. 17 minutes into the match, UE Sant Julià's goal looked a bit too open when Jonathan Stamnes came free, but Johnnie Dobson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 18th minute, Bryan Hornsby ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rick Brearley was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 27 minutes into the match, UE Sant Julià's goal looked a bit too open when Jonathan Stamnes came free, but Johnnie Dobson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Aurelio Badilla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Rick Brearley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 43 minutes, Perry Swanson put it in 0-3 from a short distance just to the right of Rick Brearley. The supporters of Celtic de Sarda booed when UE Sant Julià was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aurel Cornea didn't get a good kick on the ball. Johnnie Dobson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonathan Stamnes in the 47th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

Sonny Branson's late challenge caught a UE Sant Julià's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sonny Branson helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Celtic de Sarda getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Sonny Branson hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice moves Bryan Hornsby could shoot a difficult shot in the 52nd minute, which Rick Brearley however easily saved by the left post. UE Sant Julià's Johnnie Dobson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lars-Erik Hellström in the 92nd minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves Bryan Hornsby could shoot a difficult shot in the 94th minute, which Rick Brearley however easily saved by the left post. The UE Sant Julià supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing UE Sant Julià would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
