Gambica Roja's Domingo Maria played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vintilă Ghițulescu in the 29th minute of play. Rikard Misje blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Álvaro Perpiñán having to make a save. Álvaro Perpiñán showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rikard Misje, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. In the 36thth minute of the game Davor Šuker who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gambica Roja's Domingo Maria was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 39th minute Vintilă Ghițulescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Domingo Maria saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gambica Roja's Domingo Maria played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Davor Šuker in the 41st minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Davor Šuker managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sporting Burgas's supporters rose to their feet, but Davor Šuker was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Domingo Maria breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The crowd rose to their feet as Rikard Misje kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Álvaro Perpiñán. That made the score 4-0 in the 44 minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Domingo Maria made an important save on a dangerous shot by Davor Šuker in the 51st minute. In a very dangerous position, a player in Sporting Burgas fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 57th minute. Penalty! After 60 minutes Sporting Burgas's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Valcho Nenchev who took care of the corner kick. Isidoro Balcells made a great header on Gambica Roja's corner, it was just that Sporting Burgas's Álvaro Perpiñán managed to reach the ball for a save. Gambica Roja were awarded a corner in the 68th minute after Sporting Burgas's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Valcho Nenchev took the corner. The supporters of Sporting Burgas booed when Gambica Roja was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rikard Misje didn't get a good kick on the ball. A sloppy throw-in by Seve Sevilla in the 76th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Gambica Roja's Bieito Mandelo. Carmine Bolognini kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. Domingo Maria made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vintilă Ghițulescu in the 84th minute of play. Álvaro Perpiñán came out of the goal in the 85th minute to try and stop a shot by Gambica Roja's Rikard Misje. But to his dismay, Rikard Misje quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-1. The supporters of Gambica Roja booed when Sporting Burgas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Miroslaw Piglowski didn't get a good kick on the ball. Valcho Nenchev struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Álvaro Perpiñán didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gambica Roja. Rikard Misje might have been able to make a better finish in the 98th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Álvaro Perpiñán. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rikard Misje ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rikard Misje in the 98th minute of play forced Sporting Burgas's goalkeeper Álvaro Perpiñán to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew the final whistle, Gambica Roja could leave the field as winners, despite Sporting Burgas having more of the ball for most of the match.
