In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind Racing Club Warwick's goalkeeper Craig Osborn, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Syd Cullen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vali Nițu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 33 minutes into the match, Coventry Wasps's goal looked a bit too open when Vali Nițu came free, but Syd Cullen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gaël Thuilliez got free with Craig Osborn in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Coventry Wasps's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Aleksander Rørvik in the 37th minute. When the match clock showed 38 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Camilo Ferrara sped through Racing Club Warwick's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Craig Osborn. Syd Cullen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alec Heath in the 44th minute of the match. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Vali Nițu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vali Nițu in the 53rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Syd Cullen saved Coventry Wasps from getting behind. After taking down the ball on Coventry Wasps's corner Camilo Ferrara fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Craig Osborn quite easily take care of the ball. With a little luck, Coventry Wasps's Syd Cullen got control of the ball when Vali Nițu tried to sneak it across the goal line. Coventry Wasps's Verne Couzens was substituted for Martyn Rider.
