Starri Kjaransson didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, V.V.V - Venlo's Sævaldur Álfgrímsson got a free kick in the 3rd minute. In the 4th minute Elfráður Unnarsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Austmar Janusson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 4th minute, Engiljón Eilífsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eldór Hreiðarsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Engiljón Eilífsson in the 8th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Starri Kjaransson during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 12 minutes into the match, V.V.V - Venlo's goal looked a bit too open when Álfgeir Hannibalsson came free, but Austmar Janusson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 15th minute Engiljón Eilífsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eldór Hreiðarsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Æsir Ásgarðr defense, Engiljón Eilífsson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eldór Hreiðarsson. The Æsir Ásgarðr fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eldór Hreiðarsson should have stopped the shot. Through an outstanding action, after 26 minutes, Austmar Janusson successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Steinröður Fannarsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. V.V.V - Venlo's supporters rose to their feet, but Steinröður Fannarsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eldór Hreiðarsson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Álfgeir Hannibalsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 42nd minute of the match V.V.V - Venlo got a corner. Æsir Ásgarðr's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Rafnar Sveinsson ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led V.V.V - Venlo's Rafnar Sveinsson to fire away a dangerous shot which Eldór Hreiðarsson despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After a rather tough play, V.V.V - Venlo's Starri Kjaransson got a free kick in the 45th minute. Æsir Ásgarðr's Eldór Hreiðarsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Garibaldi Dónaldsson in the 46th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Álfgeir Hannibalsson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of V.V.V - Venlo booed when Æsir Ásgarðr was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 50 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kristall Guðjónsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 51st minute of the match Rafnar Sveinsson sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Eldór Hreiðarsson skillfully saved the ball. Garibaldi Dónaldsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Álfgeir Hannibalsson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Austmar Janusson was relentless in the 62nd minute of the game. Eldór Hreiðarsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Justin Kluivert in the 67th minute of the match. 68 minutes into the match, Æsir Ásgarðr's goal looked a bit too open when Justin Kluivert came free, but Eldór Hreiðarsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 69 played minutes V.V.V - Venlo got a freekick which was hit by Starri Kjaransson. Engiljón Eilífsson scored 0-3 in the 73rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Eldór Hreiðarsson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to Æsir Ásgarðr getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Bersi Aðalsteinsson hit a great ball. Æsir Ásgarðr's Eldór Hreiðarsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Justin Kluivert in the 79th minute of play. Eldór Hreiðarsson came out of the goal in the 91st minute to try and stop a shot by V.V.V - Venlo's Justin Kluivert. But to his dismay, Justin Kluivert quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. V.V.V - Venlo played a much better game than Æsir Ásgarðr and deserved their victory. The Æsir Ásgarðr players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
