Dragonf⮊rcE's Zacarias Sesimbra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Duarte Carvalho in the 15th minute of play. In the 15th minute, Duarte Carvalho made a precise shot to the right of Zacarias Sesimbra. Dragonf⮊rcE's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. In the 22nd minute of the match Fundação Marques dos Reis got a corner. Dragonf⮊rcE's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Wesly Goemyne ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Wesly Goemyne got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Zacarias Sesimbra quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 24th minute Duarte Carvalho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zacarias Sesimbra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 25 minutes had been played when some careless play by Dragonf⮊rcE's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Wesly Goemyne was slow to take the kick. During this time Fundação Marques dos Reis's players had a chance to rest. The audience was convinced that Duarte Carvalho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Zacarias Sesimbra was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. 34 minutes had been played when some careless play by Dragonf⮊rcE's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Barry Houghton was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of Fundação Marques dos Reis booed when Dragonf⮊rcE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vivaldo Brites didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 64 minutes, Barry Houghton managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dragonf⮊rcE's supporters crossed their fingers, but Barry Houghton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Zacarias Sesimbra showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tiago Ferreira in the 66th minute of the match. Fundação Marques dos Reis's Duarte Carvalho got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Fundação Marques dos Reis made a substitution. Guilherme Peralta replaced Duarte Carvalho. Dragonf⮊rcE's Zacarias Sesimbra proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 72nd minute of the match, managed to save Dragonf⮊rcE from getting a goal against them. 74 minutes into the match, Fundação Marques dos Reis's Guilherme Peralta sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Zacarias Sesimbra narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Zacarias Sesimbra dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Dragonf⮊rcE made a substitution. Artur Sawicki replaced Pedro Pauleta. In the 92nd minute, Guilherme Peralta left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Fundação Marques dos Reis fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. Fundação Marques dos Reis's Argyris Zagorakis was substituted for Alexandre Pacheco. The Fundação Marques dos Reis supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Fundação Marques dos Reis would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
