When the match clock showed 6 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Xalvador Mac Kenney sped through Algarrobo's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of José Chilavert. Algarrobo's José Chilavert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcel Blanco in the 9th minute of play. VILLANUEVA FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 12th minute, when Diego Armando Lamb scored to the left of an out of position Nicodemo Recalde, making the score, 1-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Xalvador Mac Kenney managed to get in a good position for a shot. VILLANUEVA FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Xalvador Mac Kenney was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. José Chilavert breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nicodemo Recalde made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jack Madison in the 17th minute. 19 minutes into the match, VILLANUEVA FC's goalkeeper Nicodemo Recalde had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edmundo Cañas. Nicodemo Recalde made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-1 at half-time.

Pedro Tomás Talamilla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Nicodemo Recalde tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nicodemo Recalde showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jack Madison in the 52nd minute of the match. With his leg José Chilavert managed to avoid a goal in the 55thth minute, when VILLANUEVA FC's Marcel Blanco fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 58th match minute, VILLANUEVA FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Celino Alzerreca to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 59 minutes, Juan Ignacio Vera managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Algarrobo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Juan Ignacio Vera was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Algarrobo's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Dani Alves in the 64th minute. A nice corner shot did that Dani Alves got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Nicodemo Recalde quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Nicodemo Recalde showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edmundo Cañas, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Nicodemo Recalde made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edmundo Cañas in the 70th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jack Madison in the 74th minute of play forced VILLANUEVA FC's goalkeeper Nicodemo Recalde to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Algarrobo's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
