The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute of the game Gogo Hondo made a throw-in which Monte Susanin played forward. Kubat Tuğrul stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nikifor Vardev's shot from short distance in the 5th minute. In the 7th minute Nikifor Vardev shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kubat Tuğrul saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to The Old Boys getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Aquilino Elodio hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Hulki Rasih managed to get in a good position for a shot. Barbudos FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Hulki Rasih was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kubat Tuğrul breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 17 minutes into the match, The Old Boys's goal looked a bit too open when Nikifor Vardev came free, but Kubat Tuğrul reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 20 played minutes Barbudos FC got a freekick which was hit by Damian Budianu. 21 minutes into the game, Monte Susanin cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Zdzislaw Slazak was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Nikifor Vardev might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kubat Tuğrul. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nikifor Vardev ran back to his position shaking his head. Kubat Tuğrul made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nikifor Vardev in the 24th minute of play. 34 minutes into the match, The Old Boys's goal looked a bit too open when Nikifor Vardev came free, but Kubat Tuğrul reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kubat Tuğrul took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nikifor Vardev, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Steven Durin hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. After the first half The Old Boys were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The Old Boys's Paulino Sayvion was substituted for Monte Susanin. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nikifor Vardev stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Angelo Muno in the 79th minute of play forced Barbudos FC's goalkeeper Zdzislaw Slazak to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
