Dennis Baldwin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joe Herring, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Kalidou Koulibaly hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. In the 15th minute Edu de Sousa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jerry Lodge saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 41st minute of the match, Edu de Sousa tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Jerry Lodge saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edu de Sousa in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jerry Lodge prevented the ball from getting in the gole.

An unexpected shot in the 53rd minute by Joe Herring got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After a rather tough play, Valencia C.F.'s Hugo Guillamon got a free kick in the 60th minute. Valencia C.F.'s Jerry Lodge played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edu de Sousa in the 64th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Joe Herring got free with Dennis Baldwin in the 67th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 67 minutes into the match, Joe Herring dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Dennis Baldwin, 2-3. El Expreso's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-4. If Lance Fairfax had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 88 minutes into the match, Valencia C.F.'s goal looked a bit too open when Zhu Quan came free, but Jerry Lodge reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 88th minute, Kalidou Koulibaly hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jerry Lodge made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zhu Quan in the 96th minute of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Valencia C.F. walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
