To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Angelino Abancens showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edu de Sousa in the 19th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dinu Pelin got free with Dennis Baldwin in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 28 minutes into the game, El Expreso's Ivor Whitehead nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Angelino Abancens made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1.
