The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a little luck, Elegance Dijon's Dave Rinaldi got control of the ball when Jaime Tabor tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 4th minute Le Stade Briochin UC were awarded a corner. Christopher Palumbo went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Jaime Tabor got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Dave Rinaldi quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 9th match minute, Elegance Dijon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mamadou Forte to maneuver through the defense. Jaime Tabor might have been able to make a better finish in the 10th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dave Rinaldi. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jaime Tabor ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience was convinced that Christian Minaud's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lev Yashin was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. When the match clock showed 14 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Christian Minaud sped through Le Stade Briochin UC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Lev Yashin. Lev Yashin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christian Minaud in the 16th minute of play. Jaime Tabors short, quick shot in the 18thth minute got Dave Rinaldi to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 20th minute Stéphane Gaudy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lev Yashin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Le Stade Briochin UC booed when Elegance Dijon was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Kopa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Le Stade Briochin UC's Lev Yashin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roger Hauguel in the 28th minute of play. In the 30th minute, Luc Szymanski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 36 minutes into the match, Elegance Dijon's goalkeeper Dave Rinaldi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jaime Tabor. Lev Yashin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roger Hauguel, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. If Nolan Roux had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 43 minutes, Jaime Tabor managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Le Stade Briochin UC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jaime Tabor was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

In the 54th minute, Eddy Brayer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dave Rinaldi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jaime Tabor in the 58th minute of the match. Through an outstanding action, after 70 minutes, Lev Yashin successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 74th minute, Régis Catoire hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Le Stade Briochin UC made a substitution. Dimitri Nedellec replaced Nolan Roux. Régis Catoire kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Le Stade Briochin UC's Christopher Palumbo got a free kick in the 81st minute. Dimitri Nedellec fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dave Rinaldi having to interfere. Lev Yashin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gilles Baur, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Clovis Janvier in the 86th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dave Rinaldi saved Elegance Dijon from getting behind. Christian Minaud could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 94th minute of the match, but Lev Yashin made a huge save. Dave Rinaldi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Clovis Janvier went, in the 96th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
