The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pieter Trip during the 4th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Pieter Trip kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. The supporters of Sons of Strategy booed when Lemel SV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pieter Trip didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Henk van Zwieten in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck George Wiklund prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Jelte Bleiswijk managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lemel SV's supporters rose to their feet, but Jelte Bleiswijk was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jan de Boer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. George Wiklund made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henk van Zwieten in the 29th minute of play. 32 minutes into the match, Sons of Strategy's goalkeeper Jan de Boer had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ettore Petroni. 36 minutes into the game, Jelte Bleiswijk recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jan de Boer. Jelte Bleiswijk showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. With a little luck, Sons of Strategy's Jan de Boer got control of the ball when Jelte Bleiswijk tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jelte Bleiswijk could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Jan de Boer made a huge save. In the 44th minute Arnold Pool shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but George Wiklund saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Sons of Strategy getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Wilco Heida hit a great ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

With a left leg Jan de Boer saved Sons of Strategy from getting behind. Dennis Bergkamp took the ball and in the 96 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jan de Boer. Jan de Boer dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Lemel SV were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Sons of Strategy for a fine match.
