In the 2nd minute, one of Football Fortress:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Football Fortress. Eleuterio Eleysegui had in the 4thth minute some difficulties stopping Fortunato Caso's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Eleuterio Eleysegui came out of the goal in the 4th minute to try and stop a shot by Shohoku FC's Fortunato Caso. But to his dismay, Fortunato Caso quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The supporters of Football Fortress booed when Shohoku FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Quintán Garland didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fortunato Caso struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Eleuterio Eleysegui didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Shohoku FC. In the 12th match minute, Football Fortress was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Heliodoro Raab to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Shohoku FC's zone, Pierre Diaz de Andrade stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tamariz Saul came out of the goal and Pierre Diaz de Andrade tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 21st match minute, Football Fortress was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alex Helo to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Fortunato Caso managed to get in a good position for a shot. Shohoku FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Fortunato Caso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eleuterio Eleysegui breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gaitano Lurquín took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 27th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Eleuterio Eleysegui. Football Fortress's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 32nd minute, Fortunato Caso made a precise shot to the right of Eleuterio Eleysegui. Football Fortress's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Football Fortress's Eleuterio Eleysegui played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vladimiro Brzovic in the 38th minute of play. Rosalio Pasos's late challenge caught a Football Fortress's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rosalio Pasos helped the player get up and apologised. When Ariano Babarovic fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Shohoku FC's protests and gave Ariano Babarovic a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Football Fortress booed when Shohoku FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ariano Babarovic didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ariano Babarovic was shown his second yellow card after 44 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After a rather tough play, Shohoku FC's Ariano Babarovic got a free kick in the 45th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Vladimiro Brzovic made the kick off in the second half. When Estevan Clavijo came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Shohoku FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Estevan Clavijo couldn't finish the play. If Vladimiro Brzovic had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Andoni Arredondo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Tamariz Saul tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Football Fortress's Eleuterio Eleysegui got control of the ball when Vladimiro Brzovic tried to sneak it across the goal line. Eleuterio Eleysegui took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vladimiro Brzovic, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
