Össur Ármannsson had several of the Task Mývatni's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 28 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-1 score and a disappointed Skafti Hermansson as he didn't even see the shot coming. Auðbergur Gretarsson hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tryggvi Sigfastsson in the 38th minute of play forced Task Mývatni's goalkeeper Skafti Hermansson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Manchester United's zone, Walter Snæbjörnsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ásgautur Reimarsson came out of the goal and Walter Snæbjörnsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Austmar Hjaltason fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Skafti Hermansson having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Össur Ármannsson made a kick off. If Össur Ármannsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Össur Ármannsson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Skafti Hermansson was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. Task Mývatni's Skafti Hermansson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Össur Ármannsson in the 60th minute of play. Arngils Þorvaldsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Skafti Hermansson having to interfere. Skafti Hermansson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Austmar Hjaltason in the 66th minute of play. Manchester United's defense didn't have a chance, in the 67th minute, when Walter Snæbjörnsson scored to the left of an out of position Ásgautur Reimarsson, making the score, 1-2. 77 minutes into the match, Manchester United's goal looked a bit too open when Auðbergur Gretarsson came free, but Ásgautur Reimarsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Össur Ármannsson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Skafti Hermansson having to make a save. Össur Ármannsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Skafti Hermansson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
