FC Barcelona's supporters rose to their feet, but Marijón Úlfarsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Skafti Hermansson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Vignir Sveinsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Auðbergur Gretarsson in the 35th minute of play. In the 36th minute, Eðvald Bjarnason hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. FC Barcelona's Vignir Sveinsson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save FC Barcelona from getting a goal against them. In the 41st minute, Walter Snæbjörnsson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Vigur Arnleifsson to strike the kick off in the second half. Vignir Sveinsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Auðbergur Gretarsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vigur Arnleifssons short, quick shot in the 56thth minute got Skafti Hermansson to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 65th minute Auðbergur Gretarsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vignir Sveinsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 70th minute, Vigur Arnleifsson fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Skafti Hermansson, passed just outside the right post. Skafti Hermansson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marijón Úlfarsson in the 72nd minute of play. Vignir Sveinsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Auðbergur Gretarsson in the 76th minute of the match. 79 minutes into the match, FC Barcelona's goal looked a bit too open when Walter Snæbjörnsson came free, but Vignir Sveinsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
