Basilio Monroy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anthony Canal in the 3rd minute of play. 6 minutes into the match, Los Rios AD's goal looked a bit too open when Jesús Boyd came free, but Basilio Monroy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jesús Boyd in the 9th minute of play forced Los Rios AD's goalkeeper Basilio Monroy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Basilio Monroy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Celestino Carreón, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 16 minutes into the match, Mauro Canal had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Basilio Monroy. Los Rios AD's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mauro Canal was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 19th minute, Ernesto Riveras hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Basilio Monroy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Celestino Carreón, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. After 22 minutes of play, El Peñón FC's Jesús Boyd made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Basilio Monroy was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 29th minute, Augusto Graham got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tilson Carbonell kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. In the 32nd minute Anthony Canal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Basilio Monroy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Los Rios AD's Basilio Monroy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Celestino Carreón in the 35th minute of play. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Los Rios AD reached it. Los Rios AD's Basilio Monroy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mauro Canal in the 44th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jesús Boyd in the 47th minute of play forced Los Rios AD's goalkeeper Basilio Monroy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half El Peñón FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Basilio Monroy made a fantastic save in the 54th minute, when Anthony Canal sent off a good shot on target. In the 55th match minute, Los Rios AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ernesto Riveras to maneuver through the defense. 56 minutes into the match, Los Rios AD's goalkeeper Basilio Monroy had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Anthony Canal. Through an outstanding action, after 59 minutes, Basilio Monroy successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 60th minute of the match, Mauro Canal tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Basilio Monroy saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 62nd minute Faustino Robledo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adolfo Zambrano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Augusto Graham received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Adolfo Zambrano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to El Peñón FC getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Paco Montañas hit a great ball. After 72 played minutes, Los Rios AD's Tilson Carbonell shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Adolfo Zambrano came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Los Rios AD reached it. After having played for 75 minutes, Augusto Graham managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Los Rios AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Augusto Graham was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 80th minute, Jesús Boyd fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Basilio Monroy, passed just outside the right post. El Peñón FC's Danilo Flores shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 81st minute of play. The shot was stopped by Basilio Monroy but with some difficulty. After 82 minutes of play, El Peñón FC's Mauro Canal made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Basilio Monroy was left in no man's land by his defense there! Anthony Canal could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Basilio Monroy made a huge save. Jesús Boyd sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Anthony Canal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Basilio Monroy having to interfere. In the 91st minute of the match, Jesús Boyd tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Basilio Monroy saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. El Peñón FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
