When the match had gone on for 25 minutes, Damaso Aranda put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Clemente Clayton. When Apolinar Cadena fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored 4 de Julio's protests and gave Apolinar Cadena a yellow card for diving instead. Apolinar Cadena hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Clemente Clayton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rogerio Godoy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 33 minutes into the match, Guayaubín's goal looked a bit too open when Diego Parra came free, but Clemente Clayton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Clemente Clayton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diego Parra, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. After 40 minutes of play, 4 de Julio's Wilfredo Pennigan made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Clemente Clayton was left in no man's land by his defense there! Wilfredo Pennigan struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Clemente Clayton didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for 4 de Julio. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After 53 minutes of play, Guayaubín's Sil Alarcón made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Paco Puente was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Damaso Aranda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 58th minute Damaso Aranda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Clemente Clayton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Raúl Guardado hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. 61 minutes into the match, Guayaubín's goalkeeper Clemente Clayton had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wilfredo Pennigan. Clemente Clayton made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Rogerio Godoy sent off a good shot on target. In the 64th minute, Diego Parra reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Clemente Clayton. The goal made the score 1-3. The supporters of 4 de Julio booed when Guayaubín was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Raúl Guardado didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wilfredo Pennigan ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Wilfredo Pennigan got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Clemente Clayton quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After 75 played minutes Guayaubín got a freekick which was hit by Emiliano Valdez. 77 minutes into the match, Guayaubín's goal looked a bit too open when Raphael Steuble came free, but Clemente Clayton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Roque Olegario's late challenge caught a 4 de Julio's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Roque Olegario helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Guayaubín getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Roque Olegario hit a great ball. 80 minutes into the match, Raphael Steuble dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Clemente Clayton, 1-4. After a defensive mix-up in Guayaubín's zone, Raphael Steuble stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Clemente Clayton came out of the goal and Raphael Steuble tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Raphael Steuble kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Clemente Clayton. That made the score 1-5 in the 85 minute of play. Clemente Clayton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Teddy Garde, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Conrado Bosch's late challenge caught a 4 de Julio's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Conrado Bosch helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Guayaubín getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Conrado Bosch hit a great ball. Raphael Steuble's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Clemente Clayton read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 90th minute of play. Clemente Clayton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raphael Steuble in the 91st minute of the match. After 92 played minutes Guayaubín got a freekick which was hit by Raúl Guardado. In the 95th minute, 4 de Julio's Teddy Garde dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-6. When the match was over 4 de Julio could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Guayaubín throughout the match.
